Galvalume® Roof Advantages

The use of steel Galvalume® roofs has come a long way in only thirty years of marketing. Billions of square feet of Galvalume® roofing sit atop thousands of buildings nationwide.

Galvalume® roofs are composed of 55% aluminum and 45% zinc alloy. Bethlehem Steel developed this product as a coated steel in 1972. The production of Galvalume® involves a “continuous hot-dip process”. This process involves cold rolled steel coils that are welded end-to-end and processed continuously on a coating line at high speed. The process is completed by utilizing various finishing steps that results in a sheet that is wrapped around a reel into a coated steel coil.

There is a long serviceable life attached to a Galvalume® roof which makes it the ideal roofing product. A Galvalume® roof is extremely resistant to outdoor corrosive elements. Galvalume® roofs that are painted at the factory are more aesthetically pleasing, especially those with a steeper pitch, and this will extend the roof’s durability over years of service. Galvalume® roofing is very lightweight but extremely strong. Galvalume® steel roofs do not crack and peel from exposure to the elements.

The use of a Galvalume® roof allows for excellent heat and sunlight reflectivity. (more…)
