Commercial Steel Buildings

Today’s commercial steel buildings are pre-engineered and pre-fabricated to almost any conceivable design. Steel buildings in the 21st century can be used for office space, distribution facilities, freight terminals, sports complexes, aircraft hangars, small garages and many other applications. Steel buildings can be designed and rigged into any number of shapes and sizes and are finding their way as the construction material of choice for residential, commercial, and industrial use.

All commercial steel buildings are pre-engineered and pre-fabricated at a selected factory. They are shipped out as a total component package that is pre-punched, pre-drilled, and pre-welded  by the factory to your construction site via eighteen wheeled trucks. A steel building is easily expandable, in the future, as more square footage is required. Steel buildings can be assembled as “clear-span”. There is no need for interior support columns. This allows for the maximum in useable interior square footage. This is especially important to owners or investors considering building gymnasiums or airplane hangars. Most credible steel building manufacturers have a trained staff that will deliver and lay out the building components. This allows for rapid assembly, more efficient construction, and can reduce labor costs at your job site.

The commercial sector is attracted to steel building construction because of accurate budget forecasts, the low-maintenance inherent in the materials, and the durability of steel.

There are three major categories of commercial steel buildings. The first category is steel framed. A steel framed building features just the structure, or frame, being made of steel. The external finishing of these buildings, however, is done with conventional material such as stone, stucco, or brick. This type of construction method is popular for use in office space, homes, and other smaller structures.

The next category is steel pole buildings. Steel pole buildings utilize steel in lieu of posts and trusses. The roof and walls are then sheathed with steel. These buildings are also known as pole barns and are often used as agricultural buildings.

The third category is steel arch buildings. These buildings are compromised of arched steel panes and they are the easiest to erect of all three categories. Steel arch buildings are largely used for agricultural and industrial purposes. They are completely made of steel and are molded in the shape of an arch. Arch buildings are completely made of steel and molded in the form of an arch. This arch serves as both the roof and the wall. This is a great construction choice for do-it-yourselfers.

A steel building chosen from any of these three categories can supply you with an affordable and durable building versus more conventional building styles.
